Emptiness of You

knowledge pours

out of my veins

nothing in check

nothing reigns

it is free flowing

like your river

combining with

the sea of my eyes

as I swallow the sun

the rays that pour forth

from the emptiness of you

I see my reflection

and it is painful

how beautiful you are

brown and rough like the dirt
like old wood on an antique door
you took me through that door
and laid me out on the floor
absent but from my body
in a whirlwind of time

as the sun set down
you rode in the next town
took me with you
a wraith without a sound
communing with beloved spirits
you embody wild west

and I heard your call
the grand costume
the legends and the romance
I’m just a dancing girl
who rode in on a sundance
native spotted horse
took you for the mustang
that you are

past the guns
and the eastern swords
towards that empty space
that spilled over in
the place where you lay
as I brought you to port
reminding you of homeland
where one day we’ll roam

but first adventure calls
and creativity reigns

Holiday

he asked me for a holiday
I gladly gave him mine
he took me somewhere far away
where sun gladly shine
we rode
and he entered my mind

the eye of Spring
it found us here
we stopped along the way
to plant the seeds tomorrow’s weeds
would cover yesterday
we tilled
and he bent to my sway

be brave, my love
this way, my love
I hear your inner voice
be brave, my love
this way, my love
tis naught a penniless choice

From dust to dust
from water to water
we were always somebody’s
sons and daughters

The sayings of my teacher goes
sometimes soft like a ribbon
and stark as a rose

In the garden of delights I find
the training of body
and peace of mind

From dust to dust
from water to water
we were always somebody’s
sons and daughters

Come circle round the family tree
always running away
from someone close to me

From dust to dust
from water to water
we were always somebody’s
sons and daughters

It was on the banks of the river fair
it was plain as day
and light in air

They birthed me from a hole in the ground
They gave me shelter
for the lost and found

From dust to dust
from water to water
we were always somebody’s
sons and daughters

Shed

This
familiar place
we fill our bellies
with fire

Shed
no common grace
we commune
with deep desire

Please
hands open face
turned towards the wind
what we require

it is placed
upon us
the burden of love
sweet honey
